Estellencs

It is the town with the lowest number of inhabitants on the island: just over 300. Estellencs is located at the foot of the north side of Puig de Galatzó, one of the highest mountains on the island. It is one of the towns which is part of the Dry Stone Route (GR221), which goes across the island from Port d’Andratx to Pollença (83 miles in total). Nearby is Cala Estellencs, a quiet cove with easy access that is frequented by locals. The cove has stones instead of sand and very clean waters.

Tramuntana Sierra

The Tramuntana Sierra is the main sierra in the Balearic Islands. It is located on the northeast of the island of Majorca, hence its name, since “the tramontana” is the wind which comes from that direction. There we find the three great reservoirs of Majorcans: Cúber, the Gorg Blau and the military reservoir for the use of the Puig Major base. The sierra lends its name to one of the regions of Majorca; its main peak is Puig Major, with a height of 1445 metres.

Andratx

Andratx is a beautiful town, with one of the largest percentage of foreign residents on Majorca, approximately a quarter of the population, some of them famous such as Claudia Schiffer or Fernando Trueba. It is worth visiting Port d’Andratx, where luxurious yachts and spectacular sailboats dock.

Sóller

There is a railway line which links Sóller with Palma, with an intermediate stop in Son Sardina and Buñola. It is an electric train, which has been preserved with the same route and machinery (locomotive, wagons, lines) from the early 20th century. There is also a tram line between Sóller and the Port of Sóller.

Valldemosa

A village with steep, narrow streets, its main attraction is the Cartuja de Valldemosa and the memory of the visit made there in the winter of 1838-39 by the romantic couple of Chopin and George Sand. Chopin composed his “Preludes Op. 28” there and Sand wrote “A Winter on Majorca”. Other illustrious figures such as Rubén Darío, Jorge Luis Borges, Jovellanos, Santiago Rusiñol and many others also spent periods there. Renowned painters live in Valldemosa today.
